Welcome to my blog!

Hi. My name is Amy Masser. I am the mother of two really great kids. I opened Baby Face Photography in 1997 when they were one and three. What was I thinking? Actually I know exactly what I was thinking. I couldn't find a reasonably priced creative photographer in the area that specialized in children. So I started taking my own creative pictures. When my friends saw the pictures they asked me to take some shots of their children. Pretty soon strangers were calling for pictures. I took a few classes to learn the basics of studio photography and Baby Face Photography was born. I have filled my studio with child sized props and wardrobe. Many of which are original pieces I designed and created myself. BFP caters to young families. I understand that sometimes it takes a lot of patience to get the perfect shot and I have that covered.

I think what sets me apart from other photographers is my personality. You can see it in my children as well. We are a perfect mixture of goofball and rockstar. My sister says I relate so well to children because I refuse to grow up myself. Couple that with my ability to appreciate the moment at hand and you end up with some really great images. Just because the shoot isn't going as planned, doesn't mean I am not taking pictures. Sometimes a great pout can be the perfect shot. I love to read people and engage them. I try to open them up and bring them out. I do this even when I am not behind the lens. I love to get a reaction. I entertain myself by giving the perfect compliment to a complete stranger and watching their body language change. I am always looking for the most beautiful angle or expression on every face I see. Children are by far my favorite subjects. I think it's their honesty that is so beautiful to me. A close second would be a parent holding their child. That is the picture of true love.

I absolutely love my job. Thank you to all the parents who continue to bring their beautiful families to me. Watching your little ones grow has been a constant joy. I also want to thank you for continuing to send your friends and family for pictures allowing me to continue to do what I love. See you soon.

Baby K * Frederick MD Newborn Photographer

Baby K was a little bit older than I like to see newborns, 3 1/2 weeks. I think only newborn photographers would consider that old. There is definitely a reason for it. This little guy was as sweet as could be, but old enough to know he can move right out of any position I put him in. By the end of our 3 hour session he was ready to get out of here. I offered for mommy to bring him back in a few days and get some pics of just them together, since there was no way he was going to have that when he was here the first time. That went just a little bit better… We still got a bunch of great shots. He’s just as cute as he can be.

Mr. B and Miss S’s Annual Christmas Shoot * Frederick MD Children’s Photographer

It was great to see these guys again. This is their seventh year in a row coming for Christmas pictures (well not Mr.B’s, it’s only his 4th). I love that I get to watch them grow up. They are great kids, easy to work with, and I think you can tell they actually like each other!

Miss E’s Christmas Pictures * Frederick Md Children’s Photographer

I couldn’t wait to post this mornings session! Many of you will recognize this family, simply because you are Baby Face fans because of them. They were the winners of last years contest for a free shoot. I have been taking Miss E’s pictures since she was born and now she’s five! Mom and Dad brought white lights with them in hopes of getting a cool blurred background shot (depth of field). Christmas Pictures…It’s not easy being almost 2 * Frederick MD Baby Photographer

It was a rough day for this little cutie pie. She was getting some teeth in and she really wasn’t feeling well. The first part of the shoot (first outfit) she spent a lot of time crying. I know it’s close to Christmas and I had no more shoots that day, so I offered for them to come back later in the day if she was feeling better. They did, and although she wasn’t as smiley as she usually is she didn’t cry. Fortunately she is so stinkin’ cute, we don’t need a smile for beautiful shots.
