It was great to meet this family. The kids have nick named the baby in mommy’s belly “Baby Bird”. That’s why they are holding a little birdy in some of the shots. Too cute.

It was really great to meet this new mommy to be. She is so sweet and very very fit for someone who is due in only days. She really didn’t want to do an entire maternity session, but she felt like she needed to capture this moment in time before it passed. Good old mommy guilt kicking in. She’s gonna be great! She is far more excited about the pending newborn session. I don’t usually do this but I allowed a 1/2 price 1/2 hour session for her. She spoke to my assistant Jenny who did a good job pleading her case. The stork was how they told their parents they were expecting. I love that she wanted to include it in the session. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the family!

Military Mommy Maternity Session

It was so nice to meet this adorable mommy-to-be and her mom yesterday. Occasionally mom’s come for the maternity session without dad, so I didn’t think anything of it when she said her husband couldn’t be here. It wasn’t until the shoot was over that she mentioned she lives in Italy and has returned home to Maryland to deliver the baby. She then shared with me that her husband was deployed to Afghanistan a few weeks ago and wouldn’t be home until the baby is 4 months old. That hit me like a ton of bricks. She was having the pictures done for him. I know that military families sacrifice a great deal for their country, and I am very grateful. It just never really resonated with me the actual gravity of the sacrifice until I met this adorable, young and very strong woman. I need to add that this mom-to-be was in no way complaining about her circumstances. It was me (not a pregnant hormone in my body) who was having a hard time keeping it together listening to her. Her mom is a wonderful support for her, but it’s just not the same. She gave me permission to share her story. I am sure I will not be the only one touched by it. I look forward to working with her and her new baby girl in a few weeks!

We plan to take a picture of her daughter holding a mini Raggedy Ann to go with this.

This was one of mom’s favorite books as a little girl. It’s never too early to start reading to your children.

She is just adorable!

Daddy is a BIG Redskins fan. Mom thought he would get a kick out of this.
