Big Family Photography Session

    34 people is a big challenge.  It was slightly easier for me because I grew up with most of the adults in the shot, so at least I knew I wasn’t going to be dealing with any difficult grown up personalities.  I had also worked with a lot of the kids before, also very easy going.  But come on 34 people in one shot…that’s bigger than most class pictures, and I wasn’t about to pose them like that. I borrowed the ladder idea from my friend Sam Hassas, who is an extremely creative photographer in CA.  He used ladders and umbrellas in a wedding shot one time and I stored that little gem in the back of my mind for a moment like this. ( I was going to link to the shot but it’s no longer on his site…it’s bad karma to take credit for an idea that’s not yours) Here’s what we came up with…
